Software Process Improvement Conference 2007

‘SPI in a Global Economy’
Kindly supported by Enterprise Ireland and Intec Billing

Thursday 15th of March 8am – 14.30pm, Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, Galway.

Since factors such as development labour cost and time to market are being scrutinized in order to achieve a greater return on investment; an option being examined by many companies is geographically distributed development. Geographically distributed development can offer several benefits - development labour cost reduction, 24 x 7 development staff availability, and the flexibility to allow you to focus on projects that are more strategic. However as attractive as geographically distributed development might sound, realising the benefits offered through utilising model requires dedication to process andmanagement.

The theme of this conference concerns this current trend, namely the fact that more and more software development takes place in globally-distributed settings. This is perhaps most evident in the many cases of outsourcing of software development to low-cost countries, but is also relevant in the case of, for example, utilizing local expertise to satisfy local demands. This event will be hosted in Galway and will cover global software development, agile, service-oriented architecture and will focus on new methods research and experiences of the main challenges of remote software development - the process, the technology and the people dimension.
