To register please send a mail to contact@itag.ie Fidelity Investments and TerraNua, in collaboration with the Information Technology Association of Galway (ITAG) are hosting the Fidelity Investments Technology Conference 2007. Join us at this event on October 18, at the Ardilaun Hotel in Galway.
Chaired by Dr. Chris Horn, co-founder and former CEO of IONA Technologies, the conference will examine emerging technologies and web usage patterns (commonly referred to as Web 2.0), the new business models they enable, as well as the implications for enterprises and the financial services sector.
The conference schedule includes four in-depth presentations from academic and industry experts. Areas such as Mobile Web 2.0, Social Networking and Collaboration platforms, the emergence of Virtual Worlds as well as security concerns with Web 2.0 architectures, will be discussed.

Speaker Bio’s
Dr. Christopher J. Horn Conference Chair/Leveraging innovation in China (Vice Chairman of the Board, Co-Founder IONA Technologies) Dr. Horn has been a non-executive director of a number of privately held software companies and business associations and advisor to a number of venture capital firms. He is a former Director of Science Foundation Ireland, a former chair of the "Expert Group on Future Skills", Ireland's Educational Technology Investment Fund, and former chair of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce eCity working group; and a former chairman of the Irish Management Institute. Dr Horn regularly contributes to debate on Ireland's high-tech industry and is a member of the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) working group at IBEC and was the founding chairman of the Ireland China Association.
Dr John Breslin Social networking/Collaboration tools (Digital Enterprise Research Institute, NUIG) Dr. John Breslin received the BE degree with 1st class honours and the PhD degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 1994 and 2002 respectively. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher and adjunct lecturer at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute at NUI Galway, and is researching semantically-enabled social networks and community portals. He is also leader of the Social Software subcluster there. Dr Breslin has received a number of awards for website design, including a Golden Spider for the Irish community website boards.ie, which he co-founded in 2000. The Irish Internet Association presented him with Net Visionary awards in 2005 and 2006.
Ajit Jaokar Mobility/Mobile device trends (FutureText) Ajit Jaokar is the author of the book 'Mobile Web 2.0' and is also a member of the Web2.0 workgroup. Currently, he plays an advisory role to a number of mobile start-ups in the UK and Scandinavia. He also works with the government and trade missions of a number of countries including South Korea and Ireland. He is a regular speaker at SYS-CON events including AJAXWorld Conference & Expo.
David Burden Virtual worlds are they for real (Daden Ltd) David has been involved in virtual worlds since the mid 1990s, having created early spaces using VRML and played in several early 3D communal worlds. David's first virtual home was at Retsmah Crossing in Alpha World and he spent much of the early naughties hoverboarding off the slopes of There's giant Volcano. David has been in Second Life since its inception where his real-life and SL business Daden Limited helps businesses and organisations explore the social and commercial potential of virtual worlds. David also has a keen interest in artificial intelligence and Daden have an AI platform for use both in SL and on the web
Richard Mooney Web 2.0 Security (Vordel Ireland) Richard Mooney is a senior solution architect with Vordel, a leading provider of SOA security and governance infrastructure products. Richard is responsible for architecting and implementing best of breed SOA security infrastructures for leading Fortune 1000 and public sector organizations in Europe and North America. Richard regularly delivers training workshops to partners and customers and also is a frequent presenter at industry conferences. Prior to joining Vordel, Richard worked at Sun, Oracle and LogicaCMG. He has an Engineering qualification from University College Dublin.
