ITAG Skillnet is a network of over 60 companies involved in the IT sector in
the Galway area. The companies range from micro start-ups to local
multi-nationals with a strong IT emphasis.
ITAG Skillnet’s primary objective is to strengthen and develop the IT sector in Galway by improving competitiveness and reducing training costs, with investment in employees through tailored training and learning programmes.

ITAG Skillnet & Avaya are launching a Jobseekers Support Program
Avaya International Sales Limited, a major telecoms research and development
centre based in Mervue Business Park, Galway, has a history in supporting
individuals back into employment and takes a proactive approach to building a
sustainable workforce. Since the inception of the JobBridge program in 2011
Avaya has provided placements focused on providing hands-on training to job
seekers looking to enhance their opportunities in the labour market. 80% of
jobseekers that have completed their internship with Avaya have successfully
secured paid employment with the vast majority of those securing permanent
roles at Avaya
Avaya/ITAG Skillnet is embarking on a new project by launching a ‘Job Seekers Support Program’ (JSSP) to begin in September 2013. This program aimed solely at training unemployed people (on live register for 6 months or more) will provide skills which are in demand by ICT industry. Training will be provided on the Avaya Campus in Galway and will take in 10 job seekers through an intensive and fast tracked software engineering development curriculum. The program is targeted at job seekers with limited IT background who have a proactive positive attitude, are capable of working independently or as part of a cross functional team, possess good written and verbal communication skills. General knowledge and understanding of Information Technology Infrastrcutures would be an advantage. Opportunities will exist in the following areas:-
· Software Development
· Software Test Automation
· Software Quality Assurance
